ABOUT ABBIE

Hello! I’m Abbie, an avid knitter and weaver living outside of Seattle, Washington with my awesome husband and our very charming - and sometimes crazy - cats. I’ve been knitting for too many years to count, ever since I learned the old fashioned way – from my mother, who learned from her mother. I started weaving in 2014 and created this blog to share my progress, creative inspiration and love of fiber. Warp or Weft has grown into an actual shop in addition to a blog and I am really pleased with all of the fun people I’ve met along the way.

I currently weave on a 4-shaft 40 inch Macomber Add-a-Harness Loom and an 8 harness 25 inch Rasmussen Table Loom. I recently purchased a Navajo loom, so stay tuned for that. I knit in the European style on all sizes and shapes of needles, including the old, long metal needles because hand-me-downs are the best!

My photos are taken with a Nikon D5100 dSLR and a Canon Powershot.

Roses are my most favorite flower followed closely by dahlias and fuchsia. I have a fairly impressive (some may say, really over populated) balcony garden.

I’m obsessed with fat cats and small kittens and want to be a cat foster mom someday.

In our spare time, my husband and I enjoy exploring the Pacific Northwest, cooking and watching comedy shows. Travel is important to us and we try to take a few vacations every year. I occasionally feature photos from our travels on the blog and you can find additional photos of our adventures on @lifewithalbertine. As you will see, I particularly enjoy National Parks and wildlife.

Visit Sparkle on the Tree for my Christmas/holiday website.

I believe in doing what I can to help others. Here are some of the charities that I support - GIVING BACK
