Odds and Ends
The weather is finally gorgeous and I am so excited for summer. I worked in the garden this week. We had the start of an aphid infestation, so I just spent a half hour outside with a spray bottle trying to get rid of them. I use a dime sized amount of dish washing soap and fill up the bottle with water. If you have any other tips on how to get rid of aphids without chemicals, I would love to hear them.
I went to a Plaid Llama sale yesterday - a sale where people sell craft items from their stash - and got this new yarn. I am looking for something to pair it with because I think it will make lovely fabric.
I also overheard an interesting conversation about what weavers prefer to wear on their feet while weaving. The conversation mostly applies to floor looms because someone said that they get blisters on their feet. The responses varied: bare foot, socks, yoga socks, shoes, house slippers. It was an interesting topic that I had not thought about before.
2016 Update: Now that I have a floor loom and have been weaving for a few years, I can say I occasionally weave in socks or barefoot, but I usually wear a sneaker or a house shoe. I find it better for my foot to have support because the pedals aren't flat.
